What is a Dental Crown?
Dental crowns (also known as “caps”) are designed to rebuild the imperfect structure of an existing tooth. Dr. Knight often recommends them in cases of significant dental injury, advanced tooth decay, weakened enamel, cosmetic imperfections, or following root canal treatment. They will both reinvigorate the tooth’s natural shape and strength and preserve what remains. Better yet, our office has all-ceramic materials that blend right in with natural teeth for a highly cosmetic result.
What is a Dental Bridge?
Dental bridges are named as such because they “bridge” the gap left by lost teeth in a row. The traditional version of this restoration is held in place within the mouth by anchoring dental crowns to natural teeth on either side. The implant-retained version, on the other hand, uses placed dental implants. The latter is a healthier and longer-lasting option that Dr. Knight strongly recommends when possible.
