Advanced Dental Services & Technologies Improve Your Appointments

The world of dentistry is never standing still. New tools and techniques are being developed all the time, and staying up-to-date with them is a great way to elevate the quality of a patient’s care to even higher levels. At Fairhope Modern Dental, Dr. Andrew Knight enjoys pairing his personal, family-friendly approach with modern touches whenever possible! If you have any questions or would like to schedule a first visit, contact our Fairhope, AL location today.

TMJ Therapy

TMJ disorder (also known as TMD) occurs when strain, injury, or general dysfunction affects the temporomandibular joint and nearby facial muscles. This joint actually helps you eat and speak, and chronic or even debilitating pain can be the unpleasant result when this condition arises. Dr. Knight offers effective therapy that can restore harmony to your oral structures in the form of custom-made oral appliances, occlusal (bite) adjustments, and even BOTOX®.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

Do you regularly feel anxious or even afraid when faced with an upcoming dental appointment? You’re certainly not alone. While we know that our office will most likely never be your favorite place in the world, Dr. Knight offers nitrous oxide sedation as a calming aid that can make the treatment process much smoother and more comfortable.

Intraoral Cameras

Far too often, patients can feel left in the dark about their own smile as the dentist and assistant peer into the mouth. At Fairhope Modern Dental, Dr. Knight wants you to be more than just along for the ride – you’re an equal partner in the treatment process, after all! That’s why we regularly use an advanced DigiDoc intraoral camera that can capture high-resolution images of the oral structures and transmit it to a TV monitor in the room. Your teeth and gums will be on the big screen, allowing our team members to point out damage, explain treatment plans, and make the entire appointment process easier to visualize.

Digital X-Rays

Traditionally, X-rays were captured on film and developed slowly in a darkroom. Thankfully, our practice has invested in digital radiography, which is a much-improved method for discovering dental problems and concerns that may be hidden underneath the smile’s surface. Now, our high-resolution X-rays can be viewed within seconds after capture, and any radiation exposure is greatly reduced as well for added safety.

Digital Impression System

When a new restoration or appliance is needed at the dentist’s office, most patients are probably used to suffering through a mouthful of goopy impression material. This process can even cause a gag reflex, not to mention the likelihood of retakes further down the road. Here in Fairhope, our team is happy to offer a much more comfortable and convenient solution: digital impressions. We use the state-of-the-art 3Shape TRIOS scanner to create a highly accurate, three-dimensional model of the teeth – no contact required.

Cavity Detection System

Cavities develop at a gradual pace, and identifying them as early as possible can preserve healthy tooth structure and improve overall oral health for our patients. That’s why Dr. Knight utilizes the Digital Doc "Lum" system during regular appointments! This device bathes the teeth in safe, near-infrared light so as to make the tooth enamel transparent. Any decay or damage will appear darker in color, making it much easier for our team to pinpoint areas that need treatment. We’ll even be able to discover cavities that aren’t visible to the naked eye yet!
